Jose Mourinho odds of getting sacked before Christmas have been slashed following Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat by Tottenham at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese is now the 10/11 favourite to lose his job first out of the Premier League managers.
Odds on Mourinho getting the boot before Christmas have changed from 7/4 to 8/13.
‘He’s 1/4 not to see out the season and we’ve even got a price for him of 6/1 not to last the week,’ said Katie Baylis, a spokesperson for Betfair.
“Zinedine Zidane is the 2/1 favourite to take over the job, with Mauricio Pochettino ironically second in the betting at 13/2,” she added.
The heat has been turned up significantly on Mourinho after the tumultuous summer, packed with complaints about a lack of signings and their difficult summer tour of the US, spilled over into the start of this season.
United limped to a 3-2 defeat by Brighton last weekend and have now lost the second game in a row in August for the first time since 1992.
The home side spurned a number of chances at Old Trafford against Tottenham and lacked the fluency of their opposition in attack.
Mourinho then defended his record in an extraordinary press conference after the game, citing the number of Premier League titles he has won (three), before storming out.
No doubt a failure to pick up three points away at Burnley on Sunday will see his odds of getting sacked cut even more.
