The Croatian was crowned as both the Best Midfielder and overall Best Player for the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League season by UEFA, Luka Modric reiterated how happy he was to be at Real Madrid.
Not long after accepting his Best player awards, Luka Modric was quick to clarify matters amid rumours of a summer move to Inter.
“I’m not happy… I’m extremely happy at Real Madrid and I want to continue at this club for several years,” Modric said.
He also noted how this past year has been one of his best and arguably his most memorable as a player.
“Everything has been moving very fast in recent months,” he continued.
“First my third consecutive Champions League Final, then the World Cup final, now receiving this award… it is the best year of my career, without a doubt, both collectively and individually.”
Coming from a childhood full of hardship, Modric also noted how accomplishments like these were always his goals as a young footballer.
“When I was little, I dreamt of this. I am very happy and I want to enjoy these moments,” he explained.
After such a successful season, the midfielder is also rumoured to be in the running for the 2018 FIFA Ballon d’Or.
