Cristiano Ronaldo’s first Champions League match from Juventus did not quite go according to script.

The star man’s first game in Europe’s top club competition for his new side ended in less than a half hour after he was showed a red card.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been sent off in his first Champions League game for Juventus after an apparent clash with Jeison Murillo, which means the star will miss a return to Old Trafford.

Just 29 minutes into the Champions League Group H opener against Valencia, Ronaldo appeared to make contact with Murillo’s head, away from the ball.

The red card was shown for the incident, leaving Ronaldo visibily distraught as he was sent for an early shower.

That also means Ronaldo will miss the next two games – Juventus home date against Young Boys and their trip to Old Trafford to face Ronaldo’s old club Manchester United.
