It is not looking good for Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has it appears the party leaders are set in their decision not to support his second term bid hence denying him the chance to contest on the platform of the APC.
Reports suggest that despite the intervention by notable politicians and leaders in the society, the party elders are adamant in their set goal of supporting Jide Sanwoolu as Ambode’s successor and not allow the incumbent remain in office beyond May 29, 2019.
Perhaps the last straw that broke the camel’s back was the fact that despite president Buhari’s apparent intervention after meeting with the embattled governor on Thursday, it seem that little has changed and the governor is still very much on the the shelve as far as the party nomination is concerned.
“There is a meeting tomorrow (Saturday) which will highly influence where the Mandate Movement and the APC will tilt towards. We think there is hope in the horizon,” a source said.
