#Ebola: 198 reported dead within four months

EbolaMainAt least 198 people have died of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo since the start of an outbreak in late July, the country’s Health Ministry said on Friday. According to the Health Ministry, among the 426 cases of reported hemorrhagic fever, 379 of them were confirmed to be Ebola cases. It has been reported that more than 126 people have recovered from the virus.

Some 38 people died after they had a hemorrhagic fever, but it couldn’t be verified whether they died of Ebola because they were buried without an autopsy. A total of 37,559 people were administered anti-Ebola vaccines in the country with a campaign which started on Augut 8.

“The risk of the outbreak spreading to other provinces in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as to neighboring countries, remains very high,” said the World Health Organization in a written statement Thursday.

As the risk of national and regional spread is very high, it is important for neighboring provinces and countries to enhance surveillance and preparedness activities,” the statement read.

Ebola — a tropical fever which first appeared in 1976 in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo — can be transmitted to humans from wild animals. It can also reportedly spread through contact with the body fluids of infected persons or of those who have succumbed to the virus.

Ebola caused global alarm in 2014 when the world’s worst outbreak began in West Africa, killing more than 11,300 people and infecting an estimated 28,600 as it swept through Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

Nigeria: Over 1.3 Million Unwanted Pregnancies, 735,000 Abortions Recorded In 2018

Nigeria is the most populous nation on the African continent also recorded 735,000 unsafe abortion in the year under review and has recorded over 1.3 million unwanted pregnancies in 2018 alone, the 2018 global family planning report has revealed.

According to the report mailed to TheCable, and unveiled at the ongoing International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) in Kigali, only 13.8 percent of Nigerian women use contraceptives in 2018.

The report defines unintended pregnancies as “the number of pregnancies that occurred at a time when women (and their partners) either did not want additional children or wanted to delay the next birth”.

This is “usually measured with regard to last or recent pregnancies, including current pregnancies”.

Google Honour Late Nigerian Female Doctor Who Stopped The Spread Of Ebola Virus

If you’ve been online this morning and have used Google, you would notice a change in the logo because Google is marking the birthday of Ebola hero, Dr Stella Ameyo Adadevoh with a Google Doodle today.

Dr Adadevoh is credited with having prevented a wider spread of the Ebola virus in Nigeria by placing the patient, Patrick Sawyer, in quarantine despite pressures from the Liberian government.

She was confirmed dead on August 19, 2014, after she single-handedly stopped late Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian-American diplomat who brought the Ebola Virus into Nigeria, from escaping from the hospital and further spreading the disease.

On 4 August 2014, it was confirmed that she had tested positive for the virus and she passed away on 19th August 2014.

She was posthumously honoured by federal government for playing a key role in curbing the spread of the virus in Nigeria.

A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s home pages that commemorates holidays, events, achievements, and people.

Woman Who Received ‘Heart Of Dead Soldier’ Said She Developed Cravings For Beer

A mother who claims to have received the heart of a dead soldier developed strange cravings for beer and could not shift the smell of damp socks. Sheron Williamson’s daughter watched her ‘die’ in hospital when her heart stopped and her monitor flatlined. But medics brought her back.

Doctors warned she would die within two weeks without a new heart.
Four days later, she received one, believed to have been from a soldier who died from injuries sustained in the Iraq War.

But when Ms Williamson, who now lives in Solihull, awoke from the operation, she started to experience strange, unexplained symptoms. The 50-year-old believes the bizarre side-effects, which haunted her for around a year, were down to ‘wearing somebody else’s heart’.

Ms Williamson told the Sunday Mercury how she suddenly became ill after a run, and managed to get herself to hospital just in time.
‘I had just been for a 10-mile run around Edgbaston Reservoir and was walking back to my car when I started to feel unwell,’ she said.

‘My legs were shaking, and I started to vomit. I took myself to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. ‘I’d been there around six times recently, but they kept reassuring me I was fit and healthy. ‘On this particular morning it was different. They told me I had just 12 days to live.’

Almost as soon as she had woken up from the life-changing operation, carried out by Professor Robert Bonser, she started to experience strange symptoms.
‘When I woke up, there were wires all coming out of me – and all I could smell was wet woolly socks.

‘Apparently. I was screaming that I wanted a beer. It’s all I kept saying. ‘Eventually, a member of my family was able to bring me a can of beer into the ward, and I just spat it out.
‘Who knows, but perhaps it was because I was wearing a soldier’s heart that I was getting his cravings. ‘All I could smell was those socks for about a year, but thankfully it’s faded now.’

The gift of the donor family had saved Ms Williamson’s life, meaning that she can now see her teenage daughter grow up.
Her daughter Sheroni is in her final year at university, studying nursing. She wants to specialise in cardiac care.

Uganda’s Army Launches Its Own Customise Condom Brand For Soldiers

Uganda’s army has launched its own brand of condoms, named after the Swahili word for “protection”, to help prevent soldiers contract HIV.

A soldier cannot defend his country if he “does not ensure that he’s safe”, said Chief of Staff Brig Leopold Kyanda at the launch of the Ulinzi condom.

At least 6% of Ugandan adults are living with HIV but strides have been made in reducing the number of new infections.

In the past, the country’s army was known to have a high infection rate.

The Ulinzi condom, which comes in a camouflage packet, should help stop soldiers bringing HIV back home after a tour of duty, said the ministry of health’s Vastha Kibirige.

300-level Student UNIBEN Dies After Urinating Blood

A 300-level Entrepreneurship student of the Department of Management Sciences, University of Benin, Austin Okafor has died reportedly as a result of the lackadaisical attitude of the school management.

About 1.8m Abortions Committed By Nigerian Women In 2017 —PMA2020

This survey about the rate of abortion in Nigeria was carried out in Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Rivers, Nasarawa, Anambra and Taraba.

A survey conducted by the Performance Monitoring and Accountability (PMA2020) in collaboration with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has shown that Nigerian women committed 1.8 million abortions in 2017.

Presenting the results of the survey on Thursday, Suzanne Bell, a scientist at John Hopkins School of Public Health, said a majority of the abortions were done by young girls in secondary schools and women in their early 20s.

The survey was carried out in Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Rivers, Nasarawa, Anambra and Taraba.

“In 2018, PMA 2020 conducted a survey to produce updated and expanded estimates of abortion-related indicators.

“The survey results provided new insights into the characteristics of women who have abortions and the pathways leading to abortion within or outside the healthcare system.

“In Nigeria, most public tertiary facilities provided post-abortion care (92 per cent) and safe abortion services to save a woman’s life (81 per cent); lower level public facilities and private facilities were much less likely to do so.

“In 2017, the annual incidence of likely abortions in Nigeria was 41.8 per cent per 1000 women aged, 15 to 49, which is nearly 1.8 million abortions.

“When including information related to the experience of respondents closest confidants, the rate of likely abortions in Nigeria rose to 2.7 million.”

Bell said that women living in rural areas, women with no education and women who are poor were the most likely to have had the least safe abortion.

She further said that six out of 10 abortions were considered least safe and 11% of women experienced complications for which they sought post-abortion care at a health facility.

Earlier, Elizabeth Omoluabi, principal investigator, PMA2020, said that one out of every four children were unintended, giving rise to some of the abortions committed by women.

Omoluabi, therefore, called for the empowerment of women to have family planning before marriage in order to reduce the abortion rate.

Children Surprise Their Dad With The Car He Sold To Pay For Their Mom’s Hospital Bills

17 years ago, When his wife, Laura, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer Wesley Ryan sold his cherished white 1993 Ford Mustang GT to help pay for her medical bills.

His son, Jake, said that selling the car was “one of the biggest sacrifices I’ve seen him have to make for us, for all of us. I know how much it broke him in half seeing that car drive away from him. A day I’ll never forget.”

With so many years passed, Wesley, 47, had no idea what was about to happen when his wife and kids blindfolded him in a department store parking lot earlier this month, then broke down in tears when they revealed the Mustang on the back of a flatbed truck.

The touching moment was captured on video with the Zac Brown Band song “My Old Man” playing in the background, and posted to Jake’s Facebook page.

Jake told the San Antonio Express-News that he came across the car while perusing Craigslist a couple of years ago, but couldn’t close a deal.

When it popped up again recently, he, his sister, Jeni and her boyfriend all chipped in to buy it.

In a sad twist of fate, the seller was letting it go because her own mother had contracted ovarian cancer and they needed the money for treatment.

Wesley told the Express-News that what his children did for him “shows where they are: they are balanced human beings.

My wife and I have succeeded, we’ve raised productive adults, it’s the strongest, most powerful feeling that a parent can have.”

Baby born with one eye in the middle of her forehead in Indonesia (Photos)

A woman shocked doctors when she gave birth to a ‘cyclops’ baby with one eye – but sadly lost her seven hours later.

Atana Ariyanto and his wife Suriyanti from Java island in Indonesia, welcomed their fifth child, a girl, at the Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Hospital of Mandailing Natal district in North Sumatra on Thursday afternoon through a natural birth.

But the baby, who weighed 5lbs, was born with only one eye in the middle of her forehead and a missing nose, although her other organs were complete.

Suriyanti hadn’t undergone an ultrasound and was so shocked to see her daughter that she, along with her husband, shut herself away in the room.

Distressing footage shows newborn ‘cyclops’ baby on life support Doctors had put the baby under intensive care where a team of medical staff monitored her condition every 15 minutes, but she tragically passed away at 10.44pm the same night.

Dr Syarifuddin Nasution, head of the Mandailing Natal District Health Office said: “The baby girl was born in a condition of abnormalities.

“We had to put the oxygen hose from the mouth because there was no nose,”The doctor said babies with these conditions are usually born by caesarean section.

In general, such babies experience respiratory problems and heartburn because their heart rate is below 100 per minute.

Dr Syarifuddin Nasution added: “This is a very rare case.“If her condition had improved, we would have referred her to Medan but we were aware the baby had a very short life expectancy.”

Dr Syarifuddin suspect the cause of the baby’s disabilities was mercury exposure and the Rubella virus. The parents live in the Kayu Jati village, Panyabungan City District where they work in one of the mines.

Nasarawa State confirmed 1,086 Youths Infected with HIV

Several teenagers in the north-central part of Nigeria, Nasarawa State have shockingly tested positive to HIV/AIDS.

About 1,086 out of 75, 435 young Nigerians between the ages of 14 and 19, who were counselled and tested for HIV/AIDS in Nasarawa State, have been confirmed to be carrying the deadly virus.

The Executive Director, Nasarawa State AIDS Control Agency, Dr. Ruth Adabe, disclosed this on Sunday during a one-day workshop organised by the United Nations International Children’s Fund, in conjunction with the National Orientation Agency, in the Keffi Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking during the event, Adabe, who was represented by Dr.
Peter Attah of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Health, suggested strategies to end the HIV/Aids epidemic.

They include the establishment of youth-friendly centres, HIV /Aids consulting and testing units and the prevention of PMTCT in the state.

She called for cooperation with the Nasarawa HIV/AIDS and STIs Control Programme in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

She blamed risky behaviour on the part of the youth for the upsurge in the prevalence of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases in the state.

Adabe also said that it was imperative for all stakeholders supporting the fight against HIV/AIDS in the state to meet with the youth and discuss how to educate the general public on the epidemic.

She said, “In 2016, about 240,000 adolescents between the ages of 10 and 19, were living with the diseases, thereby making up seven per cent of the total number of people living with the virus in Nigeria.

“HIV prevalence among this age group varies regionally, with 4.3 per cent of 15-19-year-olds living with HIV in the South-South, compared to 1.3 per cent in the South-East.

“Health outcomes for adolescents living with HIV in Nigeria are poor.
This is the only country in the world where mortality in 10 – 14-year-olds is rising.

“Young women have a higher HIV prevalence and are infected earlier in life than men of the same age group.

“In 2016, more than 46,000 young women were infected with HIV, compared to 33,900 young men.

“Reports from a 2017 National Health Survey showed that only 29 per cent of women and 27.9 per cent of men between the ages of 15 and 24 could correctly identify ways of preventing sexual transmission of HIV, as well as reject major myths around transmission,” she said.

The executive director called for an effective strategy to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic. She urged indigenes and other people living in the state to go for regular HIV counselling and testing.

Woman Collapse As HIV-POSITIVE Husband Gets Daughter Impregnated

A Kenyan woman, Colletha Kasumba, fainted for nine hours after she heard that her husband of 10 years, had impregnated their daughter.

The woman’s sister-in-law, Everlyne Isavywa, said Kasumba collapsed on learning her husband who is HIV-positive, had not only impregnated their daughter but also infected her with the virus.

Reports gathered the woman was unconscious for more than nine hours and was angry, when she woke up causing her to behave violently.

Her behaviour made neighbours and relatives who had gathered around her to scamper for safety.

“People thought she was dead since she was unconscious for over nine hours.

We were planning for her burial but we were shocked when she woke up at about 1am and started shouting that the husband has finished her,” Isavywa said.

“The woman gave birth to twins but the husband killed them. He also infected the woman with HIV and now has infected her daughter and impregnated her.

The occurrences made the woman go mad as she was too stressed,” she said.
Their daughter has reportedly given birth to a baby boy who resembles the father.

Confirming the incident, Bulopi assistant chief, Caleb Natiri, condemned the incident saying grandparents of the girl had been trying to separate them but the father refused.

“This is absurd. Village elders, church leaders and lawmakers need to be engaged to curb incidences of inter-kin marriages which are on the increase,” said Natiri.

He said the suspect would be arrested and arraigned in court once they complete their investigation.

Amazing Photos of A 31-year-old Mother Of Three Breastfeeds Her Child While Doing Yoga

A 31-year-old Carlee Benear from Texas is being hailed online as a multitasking mom after she was pictured breastfeeding her two-year-old daughter Maramaylee and doing yoga at the same time.

According to Carlee, who is a mother of three, breastfeeding and doing yoga at the same time helps her ‘connect’ with her body.

In an interview with Mail Online, she revealed she first took up yoga after the birth of her second child, having struggled with post-partum depression following her first birth.

Carlee said she continued doing yoga throughout her third pregnancy, describing how it helped her morning sickness and find a greater connection to her unborn daughter.

Explaining why she breastfeeds her daughter while doing yoga, she said:

‘Holding poses and breathing while nursing helps me connect with my body and be more present.’
‘Anything can be challenging if you let your mind get in the way.

I think that’s one of the things breastfeeding yoga has helped me move past and it’s helped me to believe in myself again.

‘Staying in poses is big in yoga as it helps you be in your body and connect with your body during the ups and downs of breastfeeding.’

She added: ‘I am always aware of my daughter around me and I adjust my flow to her because she loves to sneak snacks at any time, so I need to be ready for her to pounce.

‘There is good in this because it is yet another reminder to be present.

‘Now, yoga helps me be the mother I always dreamed of being because I can enjoy every moment to the best of my abilities.’

Over 400 GAY In Ghana To Be Cured Of Homosexuality. Guess how!

About 400 gay people in Ghana will reportedly take part in a gay ‘cure’ therapy forum in the country.

The attendees, who have all allegedly signed up voluntarily, will receive ‘counselling’ and ‘reformation’ at the anti-gay conference, which has the theme: “Exploring the myths surrounding LGBT rights.

The National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values (NCPHSRFV), which is running the forum, said in April that Prime Minister Theresa May’s pro-LGBT+ speech to Commonwealth leaders was part of a Western plan to reduce the continent’s population.

PinkNews reports that the leader, Moses Foh-Amoaning, said that the “400 men and women voluntarily surrendered themselves and registered with the coalition to undergo a sexual evangelism programme recently.”

The event will take place in an undisclosed location in the country.
Foh-Amoaning then announced plans to open a ‘Holistic Sexual Therapy Unit’ at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra which will also attempt to ‘cure’ queer people of their sexuality, according to the state-owned Daily Graphic.

He said that religious leaders and people versed in ‘traditional medicine’ would ‘treat’ people alongside medical staff.

He also revealed plans to make the law, which currently criminalises homosexuality with a maximum prison term of three years, force queer people to undergo gay ‘conversion’ therapy.

Foh-Amoaning said that “a bill known as ‘Who is on the Lord’s Side’ will then be introduced in Parliament for subsequent passage into law.

“We will make our punishment corrective instead of punitive.”

The head of the NCPHSRFV has a long history of anti-gay campaigning, having previously insisted gay people shouldn’t have rights and that pro-LGBT+ activism was a form of neocolonialism.

Foh-Amoaning has also stated that “the anus was not created for sex” and compared it female genital mutilation.

His group campaigns against any political party which supports homosexuality in the country.

In 2015, he said that churches would end up being “dominated by homosexuals” if the clergy didn’t stage a “blistering crusade” against homosexuality.

The law lecturer said the “dormant posture” of the Ghanaian clergy would see the “houses of God being ruled by evil homosexuals.”

TWO HEADED BABY LIVES AFTER THE SECOND WAS AMPUTATED IN SYRIA

A BABY born with two heads is lucky to be alive after a successful operation to amputate the second head.

Sana Hilel, from Aleppo, Syria, had her seventh child, Abdullatif Shekrak, by caesarean section after cranium bifidum was detected in the womb.

It’s a rare condition that arises when a baby’s skull doesn’t close properly during pregnancy, and parts of the brain – or the membrane that covers it – form outside the skull in a ‘second head’.

Realising it was a risky birth, the 37-year-old decided to have her baby across the Turkish border in Hatay Province, at Mustafa Kemal University Hospital.

Facing death, the baby was then quickly transferred to Iskenderun Developmental Hospital where a brain, nerve and spinal surgery specialist removed the second head.

Dr Mehmet Koparan, who performed the surgery, said a case this severe would often have been fatal.

“Grades three and four are less common, and often deadly. This case is grade three.”

Surgery on three-day-old Abdullatif lasted three hours and was fraught with difficulty.

“Of course it was complicated because of the brain tissue,” said Dr Koparan.

“A wrong surgical intervention could cause the patient to die of respiratory failure and hydrocephalus, which is a collecting of fluid in his brain.”

Following surgery the baby was placed in intensive care and, after eight hours of monitoring, was allowed to breathe on his own.

The second head weighed in at almost 1kg, comprising approximately a third of the baby’s total weight.

Dr Koparan said the baby has now been discharged and he expects him to enjoy a normal life.

The surgeon added that cases of cranium bifidum are most likely caused by the mother’s age and malnutrition.

In Europe and north America, cranium bifidum is likelier to occur at the back of the head, while in southeast Asia, Africa, Malaysia, and Russia, the front of the head is more common.

Man with swollen testicles reveals he couldn’t have sex with his wife for 9 years

A man with a very large scrotum that kept growing has spoken out about how his condition affected his life and has now revealed fresh fears for his health.

Dan Maurer, from Michigan, left doctors baffled when his testicles continued to grow uncontrollably.

Dan’s condition left him unable to do things like bathing on his own, camping with his friends, being intimate with his wife, and more.

He revealed that he couldn’t have sex with his wife for 9 years – from March 2006 till he had surgery in 2015.

He was also unable to pee in a toilet, because of his condition.

He only peed in the shower because the size of his scrotum meant he couldn’t aim into the toilet bowl.

“It’s made me a prisoner of my own body, it’s like carrying a ball and chain,” Dan said in 2015.

“The best way I could describe the weight to someone would be to imagine splitting open your scrotum and put in three large bowling balls then sew it back up and carry it around.

I’m constantly in pain and it’s a lot of weight on your back, so it’s very hard for me to move.”

The condition also made him overweight.

The weight of his scrotum made it impossible for him to move, so he stayed homebound and was unable to exercise, hence the added weight.

But thanks to surgeons he has been put out of his misery after a life-changing operation in 2015 to remove his giant testicles after he diagnosed himself with scrotal lymphedema.

It took a team of 9 surgeons and 12 theatre staff to remove Dan’s giant scrotum.

Now, almost 4 years after the life-changing surgery, Dan is worried about the extra weight, which he still hasn’t lost since the operation.

Dan has had a worrying wake−up call after one of his idols, filmmaker and actor Kevin Smith, had a heart attack earlier this year.

Now Dan fears he’ll end up suffering the same fate if he doesn’t lose weight, something he’s always struggled with.

Snake Bites Kills 9 People 430 Others Treated In Plateau State

The Zamko Comprehensive Medical Centre, Langtang in Plateau State recorded 430 cases of snake bites in the last eight months, according to its medical officer, Dr Nyam Azi.

Azi told the News Agency of Nigeria in Langtang on Thursday that nine of the patients lost their lives while some were still being treated.

He said that the hospital was currently filled with snakebite patients, adding that the rural health facility, an outpost of Jos University Teaching Hospital, was already overstretched.

“As we speak, the situation in the hospital is scary; we receive fresh victims of snakebites every day.

“Snakebites are common during the farming season because more people engage in outdoor activities. Some of the victims are children who dip their fingers into holes in search of rats.

“All the wards are filled with snakebite victims. Some of the admitted victims sleep on benches and along the corridors,’’ he said.

Azi, however, said that the mortality rate had reduced due to the availability of the anti-snake venom.

“Unlike in the past when many victims died, many of those bitten have survived because we have the right drugs.

“The villagers have also become more enlightened and usually rush to the hospital immediately they are bitten. They no longer patronise traditional healers,’’ he explained.

The medical officer said that 150 vials of anti-snake venom were donated to the hospital by Mr JohnBull Shekarau, a member of the House of Representatives and urged other office holders to emulate that gesture.

“The free drugs have helped indigent victims. Many of them, who usually refuse to come to the hospital because they could not afford the cost of the drugs, now rush here,’’ he said.

Azi urged governments at all levels to donate anti-snake venom drugs to the hospital to assist the rural dwellers, saying that snakes in the southern part of Plateau were “plenty and highly venomous.’

Being In A Bad Mood Can Improve Your Brain’s Productivity – Research Reveals

Being in an bad mood can enable certain individuals to think all the more proficiently as far as their capacity to center consideration, oversee time and organize undertakings, as per new research.

New research found that being in a bad mood can help some people’s executive functioning, such as their ability to focus attention, manage time and prioritize tasks.

The same study found that a good mood has a negative effect on it in some cases.

Tara McAuley, a psychology professor at the University of Waterloo, and Martyn S. Gabel, a PhD candidate, explored whether our emotional reactivity shaped how mood influences the kinds of thinking skills we need to navigate the demands and stresses of day-to-day life.

Emotional reactivity refers to the sensitivity, intensity and duration of our emotional responses associated with our mood.

“Our results show that there are some people for whom a bad mood may actually hone the kind of thinking skills that are important for everyday life,” said McAuley.

The high-reactive individuals – people who have rapid, intense, and enduring emotional responses – performed better on executive function tasks when experiencing a bad mood.

Low-reactive individuals showed the opposite effect, with bad mood associated with worse executive functioning.

This pattern of results supports the view that a bad mood may help with some executive skills – but only for people who are more emotionally reactive.

“People shouldn’t interpret the results as saying it’s fine to fly off the handle or overreact, or to be grouchy,” said McAuley.

“We know that emotional reactivity differs from person to person starting at a very early age and that these individual differences have implications for mental health later in development.”

Further research is needed to explain the relationship, but some studies suggest that high-reactive people are more accustomed to experiencing negative emotions.

As such, bad moods may be less distracting for them compared with lower-reactive people.

The study included 95 participants, each of whom completed nine distinct tasks and questionnaires that measure the interplay of mood, emotional reactivity and various working memory and analytic challenges.

Why You Need Preserve Your Sperm & Eggs For Future – Gynecologist Advises Career Ladies, Men

A Consultant Gynaecologist and fertility expert, Dr Ibrahim Wada, on Wednesday advised career-minded couples to preserve their sperms and eggs to avoid losing out on parenthood.

According to him, fertility preservation can also be useful for couples who want to postpone having children for medical reasons such as treatment of cancer or ovarian cysts.

Wada, who is also the Founder, Nisa Premier Hospital in Abuja, spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

He said as many women in society were increasingly becoming household heads and men engaging in high professions, fertility preservation would be a solution.

Wada defined fertility preservation, also known as `cryopreservation’ as the storage of gamete embryos such as sperms in males or eggs in females for future child-bearing.

He explained that the preservation technique could be achieved by cooling the temperature of the sperms and eggs as well as cells and tissues susceptible to damages caused by chemicals and radiation overtime.

The fertility expert said that sperms and eggs could be frozen prior to radiotherapy, chemotherapy and extensive surgeries.

“The mammalian embryo was first successfully cryopreserved in 1972 and the first reported pregnancy from frozen embryos was in 1983.

“At Nisa Premier Hospital, the first pregnancy from frozen embryos was in 2001.

“We encourage early marriage and early pregnancy, especially for women; also good social and health habit, prevention of infection, alcoholism and smoking can help prevent infertility.

“However, if time is a challenge, then, preservation should be considered,’’ he said.

Wada said that sperms were produced in the testes and millions of new sperms were continuously being produced daily, while in females the ovaries produce eggs at either sides of the womb.

He said that the uterus was the organ where conception occurs, union of an egg and sperm cells; hence, there were various factors responsible for the inability of couples to conceive and bear children.

“In men, it can be the sperm quality, infection, injury, aging or impotency, while in women ovulation problems can be caused by aging, egg quality, and blocked tubes, among others.

“As people grow older, there can be various impediments to one’s fertility such as smoking, alcoholism, drugs and high risk occupation which can also account for decline in sperm count,’’ Wada said.

Man Gets HORRIBLE DISEASE… May Probably Lose Both LIPS… He Ate INFECTED P***Y!

A man was infected with a DEADLY VIRUS – when he performed oral s*x on a woman. And according to his friend, doctors believe he may lose BOTH lips and at least HALF of his tongue.

His friend explained, “His lips melted, because he went out – didn’t even know the woman – and [had] oral s*x.” The woman is believed to have infected him with some type of exotic virus, possibly contracted in Southeast Asia.

The disease that he contracted is so novel, that it has not yet been named.
“They are trying to keep him opening and closing his moth, so his lips don’t seal.” his friend explained.

Here is photo of the man who allegedly got his mouth infected.

Oncologist recommends regular breast examination to prevent breast cancer

Dr John Alozie, an Oncologist with National Hospital, Abuja, on Tuesday advised women to conduct a regular self-examination of their breast to prevent late dictation of breast cancer.

Alozie, who gave the advice in Abuja, noted that breast cancer was common and the second main cause of cancer deaths among women.

He said that awareness of the symptoms and the need for screening are important ways of reducing the risk.

“The first symptom of breast cancer is a lump or thickening of the breast and changes to the skin or the nipple.

“In cancer, the body’s cells multiply uncontrollably. It is the excessive cell growth that causes cancer.

“Breast cancer usually starts in the inner lining of milk ducts or the lobules that supply them with milk and from there, it can spread to other parts of the body,” he said.

According to him, women who have had breast cancer before are more likely to have it again, compared with those who have no history of the disease.

He added that having some types of benign or non-cancerous breast lumps increases the chance of developing cancer later on.

“Being exposed to estrogen for a longer period appears to increase the risk of breast cancer.

“This could be due to starting periods earlier or entering menopause later than average. Between these times, estrogen levels are higher.

“Breastfeeding, especially for over one year, appears to reduce the chance of developing breast cancer, possibly because pregnancy followed by breastfeeding reduces exposure to estrogen.

“Women who are overweight or have obesity after menopause may have a higher risk of developing breast cancer, possibly due to higher levels of estrogen. High sugar intake may also be a factor.

“A higher rate of regular alcohol consumption appears to play a role. Studies have shown that women who consume more than three drinks a day have a 1.5 times higher risk,” he said.

Alozie also said that undergoing radiation treatment for a cancer that is not breast cancer increases the risk of breast cancer later in life.

He said that the use of hormone replacement therapy and oral birth control pills have been linked to breast cancer, due to increased levels of estrogen.

Drinking My Dog’s Urine Every Morning Helps Me Stay Younger, Fresher – Woman Reveals

A woman has claimed drinking her own dog’s urine helped clear her bad acne .

‘Many of you have asked me how I always look so good, how my makeup always looks so perfect, or how I always have this natural glow,’ the unnamed American woman says in the clip.

Using a plastic cup, the woman collects urine from her dog before drinking it in full during the minute-and-a-half clip.

The horrifying video appears to be real after the woman is able to chug the cup of urine right after she collects it from dog.

‘Until I first drank my dog’s pee, I was depressed, I was sad, and I had bad acne,’ the woman says after finishing the cup.’Dog pee also has vitamin A in it, vitamin E in it, and it has 10 grams of calcium, and it’s also proven to help cure cancer.’

Drinking dog or human urine is known as urine therapy, and it was a practiced form of therapy in ancient China, Rome, Greece and Egypt.

But experts warn about the impact the substance can have on the health because of the toxins and acids that can reside in the urine.

Urine is mostly made up of water, lots of urea, creatinine, various electrolytes, uric acid, trace proteins, and low levels of antibodies and enzymes,’ Joy McCarthy, a certified holistic nutritionist, told Allure.

She says that drinking urine from an animal could be an unsafe route for the body because what the liquid might contain.

‘Herbicides have been detected in dog’s urine, likely from herbicide-treated lawns, antibiotics, and hormones, so I really don’t know that it’s the safest choice,’ Joy says.

Man Serves His Amputated Foot To Friends For Dinner

A man fed his foot to a group of friends at a dinner party after being forced to have it amputated. The bizarre incident came to light this week after the amputee told his story on Reddit.

Around two years ago, he was seriously hurt in a motorcycle accident and despite a battle, medics were forced to amputate his foot. He then asked to keep it, and after completing some paperwork, he took it home.

On July 10th, 2016, just three weeks after the accident, he invited 11 open-minded friends to a special meal. Ten showed up. He served them apple strudel, quiche puff pastries, fruit tarts and chocolate cake with gin lemonade punches and mimosas. Then the main dish was his amputated foot which he named “Foot Taco”

Narrating, the man said:

So my friends and I always had this joke, If you could try human flesh in an ethical and healthy way, would you. And we always said of course. Well the opportunity came up and I called them on it. Originally I wanted to have [my foot]taxidermied or freeze-dried. How cool would it be to have my freeze-dried or taxidermied foot standing around the house as a lamp or a doorstop or something?

All of this came out of the idea that it’s my foot. It’s not going to be cremated and chucked into a landfill. It’s a part of me, and I want it back. Most hospitals have policies where they will release your body parts to you because of some religions where you have to be buried whole, so I just signed the paperwork.

My mom, who was helping me get back on my feet, so to speak, drove me back to pick it up.‘She doesn’t know I ate it, though. I went inside and the hospital gave me my foot in a red plastic biowaste bag. I brought it to the car and immediately put it in a cooler. It was pretty bizarre. I got back to my place and I froze it. I couldn’t find a taxidermist who would take me seriously and freeze-drying was too expensive.

It would have been $1,200 (£900) to freeze dry the thing. If I had the money I would have done it. Eventually, I decided to cast it in plaster to use as a doorstop, then capture a 3D rendering so I can make little keychains. When we got back to my house, I took the foot out, and it was so gross, man. It was covered in blood and had iodine all over it. After I cleaned it off, I was pleasantly surprised by how well-preserved it was.

Before we cast it, I quickly took a knife from my kitchen and cut a chunk off the top of my shin. The skin was already kind of off from the surgery, leaving a big chunk of muscle exposed. I just took the muscle. I put it in a plastic bag and put it in my freezer.

I invited 11 people. I said something like, ‘Remember how we always talked about how, if we ever had the chance to ethically eat human meat, would you do it? Well, I’m calling you on that. We doing this or what?’

Ten said yes. I guess we’re a weird group. The foot was the marinated overnight and sauteed it with onions, peppers, salt, pepper, and lime juice. It was later served on corn tortillas with a tomato sauce. People think it tastes like pork because in movies we hear it called “long pig.” But that term originated in places like Papua New Guinea, where they eat wild boar.

This particular cut was super beefy. It had a very pronounced, beefy flavor to it. The muscle I cut was tough and chewy. It tasted good, but the experience wasn’t the best.

Rating the meal a solid 6.5 out of 10, he added:

It tasted like buffalo, but chewier. Super beefy and little fat. It’s way better than a hot dog or regular burger. Maybe equal with regular bacon, which is pretty decent. But nowhere near as good as butter seared sea scallops or a rare tenderloin seared in oil in a cast iron pan. Read more here

‘Insect milk’ now on sale in South Africa

cockroach

A South African company has begun selling what it calls “Entomilk,” a special milk made from farmed insects.

“Think of Entomilk as a sustainable, nature-friendly, nutritious, lactose free, delicious, guilt-free dairy alternative of the future,” Gourmet Grubb said on its website.

According to the company, one of the most pivotal benefits of Entomilk is that it has a high protein content and is rich in minerals such as iron, zinc and calcium.

Entomilk entered the market two years after the debut of the so-called “cockroach milk,” a milk made from the viviparous cockroach named Diploptera punctata.

This particular kind of cockroach, which is usually found on Pacific islands like Hawaii, is the only known cockroach that gives birth to their babies, as opposed to laying eggs.

Their milk is a crystal of proteins, fats and sugars, which are important for the growth of baby cockroaches.

A study carried out by Indian researchers in 2016 found that the cockroach milk is estimated to contain over three times the energy of the equivalent mass of cow milk.

However, scientists did not expect the cockroach milk to be found in supermarkets anytime soon. Besides its unappealing name, it’s also unclear if the milk is safe to consume.

“We have no evidence that it is actually safe for human consumption,” said Subramanian Ramaswamy, the lead author of the 2016 study. (Xinhua/NAN)

Bat warning in western Canada

White-nose syndrome has killed millions of bats in eastern North America and the western province of British Columbia wants travelers to help prevent the fungal disease from spreading to that province. It is asking people to check “to make sure they are not accidentally taking stowaway bats for a free ride when they return from their summer travels.”

Bats sometimes hide in tiny spaces in trailers, campers, umbrellas, trucks and other vehicles and can end up riding hundreds or thousands of kilometres. If they are carrying white-nose syndrome they can transmit it to local populations which can wipe them out.

Bats sometimes hide in nook and crannies of campers and can be transported a great distance.

Half of B.C. bats at risk

Half of the bat species in British Columbia are considered species at risk. They face threats such as habitat loss, colony disruption, mortality due to wind turbines and the possible arrival of white-nose syndrome.

Bats are important in controlling insect populations and cycling nutrients from wetlands to forest.

Some bats infected with rabies

The government asks people who find a bat in their vehicle after a long trip to notify the B.C. Wildlife Health Program (250 751-3219 or 250 751-3234)  or the BC Community Bat Program  (1 855 922-2287 or info@bcbats.ca). It also advises people to never touch a bat with their bare hands but to use a thick towel, oven mitts, or a leather glove to remove a bat or gently nudge it into a container using a whisk broom, and then to safely release it.

It warns a small percentage of bats in the province are infected with rabies and that anyone who is bitten or scratched by a bat should immediately was the affected area and seek medical care.
