Shettima Blast Jonathan for lying over Chibok girls claims

PRESIDENT-Goodluck-Jonathan.jpg.pagespeed.ic_.jBjczD5xhJFormer President Goodluck Jonathan has been slammed as a liar by Borno State Governor kashim Shettima for not stating the full story of the Chibok girls investigation in his new book titled ‘My Transition Hours.’

Interestingly, the book has sparked huge controversies even before it hit the book stores as some of the personalities mentioned in the book, which was presented on Tuesday as part of Dr. Jonathan’s 61st birthday ceremony, are disputing some facts in the work.

The former president explained that the abduction of the Chibok girls was contrived to embarrass him and make him lose the 2015 election.

Kashim-Shettima
Borno State Governor kashim Shettima, Justice Minister Mohammed Adoke and former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka disagreed with the former President. Shettima told Jonathan on the Chibok abduction that his probe panel’s report was missing in the book’s chapter four

“In clever attempt to sweep under the carpet, incontrovertible facts surrounding the April 14, 2014 Chibok abduction, former President Goodluck Jonathan has deliberately omitted in chapter four of his new book, an investigative report submitted to him in June 2014, by the presidential facts-finding committee he constituted in May, 2014, which was mandated to gather evidence-based facts and circumstances on the abduction,” Shettima has said.

The former president had indicated that the schoolgirls’ abduction was a product of conspiracy by the then opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), in connivance with Borno State government. He also accused the Borno government and then President Barack Obama’s administration in the United States of undermining efforts to rescue the Chibok girls in 2014.

Shettima, in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau, said Jonathan never believed there was ever an abduction until rescue efforts were late, the “the former President’s elementary book of tales fell short of the courage required of him to publish findings by his own panel in chapter four of his book, he said.jonathan31964515.jpg

Gusau quoted the governor as saying: “The whole of Tuesday night, I took the pains of reading His Excellency, former President Goodluck Jonathan’s book, My Transition Hours, from the first to the 177th page. I took particular interest in chapter four (the Chibok school girls affair) which has 42 paragraphs written on pages 27 to 36.

“I was amused that despite admitting in paragraph 15, that he had (in May 2014) constituted a Presidential Fact-Finding Committee under Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Sabo and many others “to investigate” the Chibok abduction, former President Jonathan refused to mention any part or whole of the findings by that panel which had submitted a highly-investigative report to him on Friday, June 20, 2014.lea126545331.jpg

This was after the panel held investigative meetings with the then chiefs of Defence Staff, Army Staff, Air Staff, the DG, DSS and IGP, met all security heads in Borno, visited Chibok, met with parents of abducted schoolgirls, met surviving students, interrogated officials of the school and the supervising Ministry of Education, interrogated officials of WAEC and analyzed all correspondences.

“What has become very clear is that the former president decided to sit on facts in his custody while he published, in an elementary standard, a book of fiction designed to pass guilty verdicts on anyone but himself, with respect to the open failures of his administration to rescue our daughters and in tackling the Boko Haram challenges.”

The governor declared that by refusing to publish any part of his own panel’s findings on the Chibok abduction, Jonathan’s book was nothing short of “a presidential tale by midday”.PRESIDENT-Goodluck-Jonathan.jpg.pagespeed.ic_.jBjczD5xhJ

Shettima recalled that for for the records, “on Tuesday, the 6th of May, 2014, President Jonathan had inaugurated multi-agency/stakeholder fact-finding panel under the chairmanship of Brig.-General Ibrahim Sabo (rtd), a one-time Director of Military Intelligence and also appointed a secretary from the Niger Delta.

President Jonathan single handedly selected all members of that committee which included his trustees amongst serving and retired security officers from the Army, DSS and Police; representatives of the UN and ECOWAS, representatives of the Chibok community, local and international civil rights organisations, representatives of the National Council on Women Societies, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, amongst other persons he trusted. For almost two months, the probe panel undertook forensic assessment of all documents on the entire issues, held investigative meetings with parents of the schoolgirls during a visit to Chibok.

“The panel held separate one-on-one investigative meetings with myself, the then Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chiefs of Air and Naval Staff, met the then Director General of the DSS and the Inspector General of Police, all of whom were appointees of President Jonathan.

“The panel interrogated officials of Borno Government, including the Comof Education and the school principal. The panel also held investigative meetings with heads of all security agencies in Borno State, including security formations in charge of Chibok. At the end, the panel submitted its report directly to President Jonathan on Friday, the 20th of June, 2014 in Abuja. President Jonathan has refused to make public the findings submitted to him.

“I was expecting the findings in his book but he has deliberately swept that report under the carpet. However, I remember that on June 24, 2014, the ThisDay Newspaper claimed to have obtained a copy of the panel’s report and published as its lead, that painstaking findings by the Presidential panel had indicted the military under Jonathan’s watch and completely absolved the Borno State Government of any blame regarding the Chibok abduction.

“The newspaper went further to say that the panel actually commended efforts of the Borno State Government in its commitment to the fight against Boko Haram as testified by heads of security establishments,” the statement from Gusau said.

Shettima also said it was clear to him after reading the former president’s book that he still lives with poor understanding of issues under his presidency. The Governor cited that, for instance, Jonathan’s claim on page 31 that Boko Haram wanted a Muslim President rather than him as Christian was laughable since the insurgents actually began their deadliest attacks in Borno under the regime of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, a Moslem from northern Nigeria.

“We know for a fact that as vicious cycle of evil, Boko Haram fighters do not care about the religion of their targeted victims. They attack mosques and churches. They are lunatics who regard anyone who doesn’t share their ideology as an infidel. So, I wonder how the former President didn’t take time to understand the biggest challenge under his presidency,” Shettima said.

The governor advised Jonathan to write another book on account of his presidency which should contain “the facts as have been presented to him, regarding the Chibok abduction rather than the fiction” he made public yesterday.

‘I assure you that we will not default on the agreements signed on ongoing projects’ – President Buhari tells South East governors

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured that all ongoing Federal projects in the South East will be funded, saying that the seven-month delay in passing this year’s budget will not serve as an excuse.

Speaking at a meeting with South-East Governors and Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu on Wednesday, at the State House, President Buhari pledged that the Federal government will sustain the support to the South-East in terms of infrastructure.

‘‘I assure you that we are doing our best and will not default on the agreements signed on ongoing projects,’’ the President told the delegation led by Deputy Senate President Ekweremadu.

President Buhari explained that part of the noticeable problem in the delay in the execution of the capital projects was caused by the budget hold-up.

‘‘When you sign, and you don’t pay, they (contractors) can legally jerk up their costs. This is part of the problem.

‘‘The infrastructure budget is a deficit budget. The borrowing plan was only approved three weeks ago and all ministers and departments of government have been instructed to forge ahead. We must not find excuses for delaying the projects.

‘‘Developing infrastructure is the best thing we can do. When the roads are okay, the rails are established and there is power, Nigerians will flourish in their businesses,’’ he said.

President Buhari, who was accompanied to the meeting by the Secretary to the Government, Boss Mustapha, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Okechukwu Enelemah, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and that of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, responded from point to point on all the issues raised by the Governors, to their satisfaction.

On the undulating surface of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, the President assured that it will be addressed in the new budget.

He also spoke of government’s serious interest in the new Port-Harcourt-Maiduguri standard gauge railway which transverses several states including those in the South East.

The Minister of Transportation gave assurance that this project, the single most costly rail project at USD 12 billion, will soon be coming to the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The Ministers were directed to follow up with the private sector on key projects in the region, including the South East Dry Port and the Geometric Power Plant in Aba, with a view to untangling the problems causing their delayed take-off.

Speaking on behalf of the Governors, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State said they had come specifically to thank the President for the award of the contract for the major component of the second Niger Bridge at the cost of N206 billion. ‘‘The project is the dream of our people and it has become a dream come true.

Our people said we must come and thank you. Your Excellency, Mr President we are grateful Sir,’’ he said.
Thereafter, Governor Umahi while enumerating some challenges confronting the Governors to the President said:

‘‘out of mutual respect, we have come to you as a caring leader to listen to us.’’

Other Governors on the delegation were Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke.

Shocking Moment As Bukola Saraki And Adams Oshiomhole Meet Face-To-Face

IMG_20181120_194952The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, met and shook hands with his recent arch-enemy, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at the launch of ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan’s book, “My Transition Hours”. Both Leaders shook hands and posed for photographs.

According to Sources  that it was really a shocking moment, as the participants were expecting the two Politicians to clash.IMG_20181120_160452

Recall, that 24-hours before the event, Adams Oshiomhole had vowed to bury Bukola Saraki’s political career, in 2019. He vowed that Saraki’s dynasty will be neutralised during the forthcoming 2019 general elections.IMG_20181120_194952

Earlier, Saraki had attacked Oshiomhole, calling for the immediate resignation of the APC National Chairman, over the bribery allegations rocking the ruling party’s just concluded primaries.

Buhari Faces The Biggest Embarrassment Of His Entire Political Life, Ahead Of 2019

President Muhammadu Buhari, is currently facing the biggest embarrassment of his entire political career, as the 2019 general elections draw near.IMG_20181119_102905

This came as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, attacked Buhari for allegedly stealing the Rex Institute’s “Next Level” logo and mantra as his 2019 campaign mantra, and presenting it to Nigerians as his idea and creation.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement, revealed that the Buhari Presidency is a fraud syndicate that thrives on deception, lies, false performance claims, certificate forgery, and corruption, while always trying to take credit for the achievement of others.

Ologbondiyan added that the PDP is however, not surprised that Buhari, in his desperation, could go as low as patronising plagiarism and false credit claims, since it is clear that he lacks the competence to initiate and articulate an original blue print for leadership.IMG_20181119_073838

According to him: “This shameful plagiarism by the Buhari Presidency has further sunk him into self-inflicted public opprobrium, from which he has not recovered since the demonstration by Nigerians, that he does not have his acclaimed WAEC certificate, and had to procure an attestation, which Nigerians also discovered to be a forged document.”IMG_20181121_075429

The PDP maintained that Buhari has over time shown that he cannot be trusted, adding that, the President heads the most corrupt administration in the history of our nation.buhari-sad1196713039.jpg

“A perusal of President Buhari’s 2019 campaign document, reveals that apart from the stolen logo and mantra, the document is replete with false claims, spurious projections and unsubstantiated figures, in the bid to again beguile Nigerians ahead of the election”, the party said

Shehu Sani Reacts To Buhari’s Appraisal Of Jonathan

Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna Central has replied critics of President Muhammadu Buhari for describing Goodluck Jonathan as a true democrat.

President Buhari on Tuesday, hailed his predecessor, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, for conceding defeat following the 2015 general elections, describing him as a true democrat.

Buhari stated this while speaking at the launching of Jonathan’s new book titled “My Transition Hours”.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the president said Jonathan’s act of courage had made him a patriotic leader and earned popularity among Africans and other leaders.

However, Sani in a post on Twitter questioned those against Buhari’s encomiums.

He noted that despite Jonathan’s failures during his adminstration, he proved himself as a ‘True Democrat’.

The Kaduna lawmaker wrote:

“Some people are not happy or comfortable whenever PMB praises GEJ for conducting a credible elections and peaceful handover;

I wonder if that didn’t happen where will they be?

“GEJ undoubtedly failed in a number of areas, but he has proven himself as a true democrat and patriot.”

”You are a true democrat, you will rise again” – Buhari commends Jonathan

President Buhari today praised former president Goodluck Jonathan for voluntarily conceding defeat in the 2015 general election.

President Buhari said this at the unveiling of a book titled “My Transition Hours” by Jonathan.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, President Buhari said Jonathan is a true democrat whose act of courage had made him a patriotic leader and earned him popularity among Africans and other leaders.

“You are a leader of the past, of now and of the future; you will rise again; I wish you the best you wish yourself, ” Buhari said.

He called on Nigerians to see elections as contests, which should be done in a free, fair and peaceful environment.

He said Nigerians should relinquish bitterness, bigotry, hate speech and “promote Nigeria for us and generation yet unborn.”

”Saraki Will Be Buried Politically Come February 2019” – Oshiomole

Saraki-vs-OshiomholeAll progressive congress APC national chairman Adams Oshiomole who has been in a war of words with Saraki since the later’s defection to PDP, said this while reacting to the APC’s victory in the bye-election conducted on Saturday in Kwara, the senate president’s home state.

While speaking to newsmen in Abuja, Oshiomole said
“They went on to say that Oshiomhole should vacate office, that I have no moral right to morality. Now in his own case, the people of Kwara wouldn’t give him the honour of resigning.

They are going to politically bury him come February next year and he has seen the first warning signal. They dug the first one-metre grave, then come February next year, senator Saraki will be retired by the great people of Kwara state whom he has mismanaged their political and economic life over the years.”

He likened Saraki to a failed native doctor who cannot perform healing in his own backyard but has promised to deliver other people in other areas.
“Here is a native doctor who busy going to another state but unable to heal is own people in his own state. That defeat in Kwara is more outstanding,” Oshiomhole said.

Let Us Not Set Nigeria Ablaze Because Of Politics, Buhari Warns

President-Buhari-in-Kaduna-today-e1540912498711President Muhammadu Buhari has called on politicians to be careful during their campaign for the 2019 general elections so as not to set the country ablaze.

Buhari on Sunday inaugurated campaign manual for his re-election in 2019 with a call on politicians to be peaceful and decent in their campaigns.

Speaking at the launch of the Campaign Manual/Next Level Document at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the president said the call had become imperative in view of the commencement of campaigns by political parties across the country.

“I’m not unmindful that the National Assembly and the Presidential campaign starts today, I will employ candidates to go about the campaigns peacefully and decently.

“We have no other country, let us not set it ablaze because of politics,” he said.

He observed that the next four years would be quite significant as the country was faced with a choice to keep building a new Nigeria- making a break from its tainted past which favoured an opportunistic few.

The president said: “We are committed to deepening the work we started this first time such that the nation’s assets and resources continue to be organised and utilised to do good for the majority of our people.

“Our choices will shape us – our economic security and our future prosperity.

According to him, Nigeria, more than ever before, needs a stable and people-focused government to move the agenda for the country forward.IMG_20181118_221444

The president, therefore, called on all Nigerians to Join his administration on “this journey to the NEXT LEVEL of a prosperous, strong and stable Nigeria!’’

He explained that in the next four years he would ensure job creation across the nation’s socio-economic sectors that would witness 15 millions new jobs.

The President said this would be achieved through an enlargement of the N-Power programme, investing in technology and creative jobs to agriculture and providing access to credits for entrepreneurs.

According to him, the APC-led administration intends to exploit the comparative advantage of the geo-political zones and different states by developing six Industrial Parks and 109 Special Production and Processing Centres (SPPCs) across each senatorial district.

He said the objective was to move the country away from oil dependence.

“The march away from a mono-economy must continue with our focus on an industrialization plan coming to fore.

“With specific plans underway to exploit the comparative advantage of the geo-political zones and different states by developing 6 Industrial Parks and 109 Special Production and Processing Centres (SPPCs) across each senatorial district, our incremental move away from oil dependence is assured.

“In addition, our development of the Special Economic Zones will quickly concretise our Made in Nigeria for Export (MINE) plan,’’ he added.

According to him, the APC-led administration will sustain food production and value addition, saying the mechanisation policy for agriculture will make tractors and processors easily accessible and available for farmers across Nigeria.

He said the administration would also continue a wide scale skilling policy, prioritising technology to reach the demography of young people within the productive sector on a massive scale even as “the government create jobs and growth within our economy.

“We believe that our people who are still in poverty have a direct way out and up through our expanded National Social Investments Programme.

“We believe we can implement the painstaking and comprehensive work we have done to bring an end to the perennial conflict between farmers and herders- a conflict which is heightened by a struggle for land, water and pasture and the effects of climate change and every now and then, opportunistic and cynical manipulation by political actors.

“We are implementing a blend of measures that ensures that justice, order, modernisation and new economic paradigms emerge.’’

The president also announced that his administration had put in place measures to overhaul the nation’s education sector.

“Perhaps our biggest ambition yet is the overhaul of our education sector. Every child counts – and simply, whatever it takes to prepare our teachers, curriculum and classrooms to attain the right educational goals that grow our country, will be done.

“We will remodel 10,000 schools every year and retrain our teachers to impart science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics using coding, animation, robotics to re-interpret our curriculum,’’ President Buhari revealed.

On the ongoing fight against corruption, the president said: “We know that, to succeed, moral integrity and conscience must continue to form the dominant character of our nation and its leadership.

“Corruption is an existential threat to Nigeria. Despite the gains we have made in closing the gates, we know that there is still much ground to cover to stop systemic corruption.

“We are committed to deepening the work we started this first time such that the nation’s assets and resources continue to be organised and utilised to do good for the majority of our people.”

Oshiomhole speaks on foreign predictions that Atiku will defeat Buhari

b721b8ec-adams-oshiomholeThe National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has urged Nigerians to disregard foreign predictions on the outcome of the 2019 presidential election.

Oshiomhole noted that only Nigerians would be responsible for the outcome of the election, adding that foreign sources predictions hold no ‘water.’

The APC Chairman while speaking with Arise Tv over the weekend noted that the APC government does not regard such issues as it was only bothered about how to solve political and security issues facing the country.

Oshiomhole said: “For me, there are people who find joy in quoting foreign sources, I like to talk about Nigeria people and they are our primary constituency. They are the ones that hired Mr. President. I am not accountable to financial intelligence and everybody is aware that some of these papers don’t have the reputation they claim to have.

“After all, these are the same institutions that wrote lavishly about Nigeria banking system but few weeks later that some of these banks were empty.

“I think we have done couple of things that will form the basis of our campaign. This is the only government that gives bail-out money to state governments to enable them meet their most basic responsibilities without bothering whether they are APC, PDP or APGA. I don’t know any government before now that was just fair and just regardless of political party affiliation. These are things we should be talking about.

“We had governments that spent billions doing ground breaking ceremony for the Second River Niger Bridge, but this government as we speak is not doing ground breaking, it is actually constructing the Second Niger bridge. These are things we want to talk about.

“Secondly, there are couple of things the Federal government is doing in Lagos, Ibadan and other parts of the country; these are things I think we should talk about. It is not the views of sometimes hired foreign commentators. These people are not superior to the Nigerian journalist. These are things we must discuss.

“If the opposition does not want to do that, we will do that. In any case, we have moved the government from one that service the elites to one that looks at the forgotten majority of Nigerians, the voiceless. I think very soon, we will begin to talk what this government has done and who has benefited and how the previous government converted private debts to public liabilities and privatised public funds to private pockets.

“And of course, we are going to get people who are knowledgeable about micro economy issues to assist Nigerians to understand that there is always a time lag between when certain policies are put in place, when certain mismanagement occur and when the impact of those mismanagement begins to occur in the lives of the people. For me, these are the issues that I want to talk about. We must consciously begin to discuss issues, policy issues, security issues and all of that.”

Photos from Ex Governor Ayo Fayose Celebrates His 58th Birthday

Former Governor of Ekiti state, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose turned 58 on Thursday, November 15th (yesterday).

The outspoken politician marked his special day in style and in a low-key manner with family and friends as can be seen in the pictures below.

Other politicians including ex-Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, praised the ex-governor on his birthday for his courage, intelligence, dogged spirit, and resoluteness in pointing out the errors of the All Progressives Congress-led federal government over the last three years.

Fani-kayode, in his “Happy Birthday” homily, saluted Fayose for refusing to surrender to intimidation, harassment, mental torture, and blackmail by agents of the President Muhammadu Buhari government.

He also likened the former Ekiti governor’s spirit and courage to that of Papa Obafemi Awolowo.

2019: President Buhari Received Bad News As He Returns From Paris

Buhari-returns-from-Paris1-768x512On arrival in Abuja from France where he attended the Paris Peace Forum, President Buhari was met with the bad news that his biggest challenger at the polls next year Atiku Abubakar has received a big boost with the endorsement of the Igbo Elders.

Some Igbo leaders, including politicians and chiefs, promised Wednesday to support Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.

They spoke in Enugu after a meeting where elder statesman Prof. Ben Nwabueze, 86, called on them to “do me the honour of achieving the success of the (Atiku/Peter Obi) ticket before I am gone”.

“We must ensure the survival of the Igbo race in Nigeria and it is only through the success of that ticket that we can get it”, he said.

Nwabueze, who chaired the meeting, explained that the ticket would “ensure our survival”.

At the meeting were: Ambassador George Obiozor, Senator Ike Nwachukwu, Ohanaeze President Chief Nnia Nwodo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Prof ABC Nwosu, Senator Chris Anyanwu, Senator Theodore Orji, Senator Ben Obi and Chief Achike Udenwa.

Also there were Prof. Uche Azikiwe, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, Chief Emeka Ugwu-Oju, Chief Garry Igariwey, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Ambassador Frank Ogbuewu, Prof Osita Ogbu, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, Chief Lawrence Nwuruku, Prof Walter Ofonagoro and Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa.

There were also Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), Commodore James Aneke (retd), Prof Elochukwu Amucheazi, Prof Uzodinma Nwala, Senator Adolphus Wabara, Air Comdr Allison Madueke (retd), Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, Prof. Anya O. Anya and Prof Chudi Uwazurike, among others

In a five-point resolution issued at the end of the summit, with the theme “Ndigbo 2019 and Beyond”, read by Agbakoba, the leaders said the position was based on the restructuring agenda put on the table by Atiku/Obi, which four zones of the country had agreed on.

“The Igbo people of Nigeria held a one day non-partisan and inclusive summit convened by elders, traditional and religious leaders on Wednesday 14th November 2018 to consider Ndigbo’s place in the polity, especially in light of the forthcoming 2019 elections.

“The summit deliberated on the state of Ndigbo in Nigeria today, especially after years of exclusion from the centre.  This country has never been so divided as it is today.  We Igbos have always yearned for a level playing field with justice, equity and fairness.

“The summit recognised the nomination of His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, as the vice presidential candidate of the PDP and fully endorses this nomination. It was acknowledged that this nomination puts Ndigbo back in the centre of governance.  It is, therefore, important that Ndigbo should rally behind the Atiku/Obi ticket.

“We identify with the Atiku/Peter Obi ticket on the restructuring agenda as has been reiterated by four zones of the country, namely: Southsouth, Southwest, Northcentral and Southeast. We believe that as long as the federating units remain weak the centre will continue to be weak. We equally move to appreciate the position of the Atiku/Obi ticket in promoting national unity.

“In conclusion, the summit reiterated that the time is now for Ndigbo to mobilise and organise effectively to realise the Atiku/Obi ticket. We are not campaigning against anybody, we are simply campaigning for our very survival. Igbo votes must count wherever Ndigbo live in Nigeria.”

Regardless of the ongoing and other planned projects in the South East of Nigeria being undertaken by the President Buhari-led APC Government, indications suggest that winning in the region during the 2019 polls will be very difficult.

Trouble as DSS asks Buhari to Prosecute Oshiomhole

oshiomole-1817350503.pngThe Department of State Services (DSS) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to prosecute Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for allegedly receiving at least $55million in bribes before and after the party primaries all over the country.

In October, Oshiomhole and his cronies reportedly received up to N50million in bribes to award last-minute tickets to undeserving members of the party.

The DSS subsequently grilled Oshiomhole last week, with reports emerging that the former labour leader had been asked to quit the office.

Oshiomhole responded by saying the DSS did not hire him, hence couldn’t demand his resignation from office.

“Total $55 million is what Adams is alleged to have received. Some party chieftains claim it is $80 million,” a source aware of the contents of the report told newsmen.

According to report, $17 million is what Oshiomhole allegedly received as bribe from Zamfara: $10 million for him, $7 million shared between Farouk Adamu, former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives; Niyi Adebayo, former Governor of Ekiti State. He received from other party chieftains, too.

“Adamu was the collection coordinator,” said the source.

“Hope Uzodinma, the APC governorship candidate in Imo State, gave $3 million; Rochas Okorocha, Governor of the state, offered $500,000 but it was rejected; Dapo Abiodun, the APC candidate in Ogun State, paid $5 million. The DSS also said some of the money was paid into Oshiomhole’s niece’s account.”

It is unclear if Buhari will follow the recommendation of the DSS for Oshiomhole’s prosecution, as SaharaReporters understands there is pressure from Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the APC, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, to give the former Edo State Governor a soft landing.

“Their thought is that with the 2019 election so close, such upheaval will not be in the interest of the party’s aspiration for victory,” the source said.

Presidential Candidate Olusegun Mimiko pulls out of 2019 Elections

mimikoA former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko has resolved to quit the 2019 Presidential race. Mimiko, who is the Presidential candidate of Zenith Labour Party(ZLP) has decided to instead contest for Senate.

Mimiko, would any moment from now, announce his ambition to contest for Ondo Central Senatorial District in 2019.

“It’s true, Iroko (Mimiko) is no longer vying for the presidential seat again because he has decided to change his mind by making u-turn after our meeting,” said the source.

“He now prefers to contest for the Senate seat and would now be the candidate of our party for the Ondo Central Senatorial District.”

Although, Gboye Adegbenro, the Commissioner for Works during the tenure of Mimiko, had also been gunning for same position under the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

It was gathered that Adegbenro’s name had already been enlisted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a candidate of Ondo Central Senatorial District.

Manchester United owners in Saudi Arabia as a result of rumours of club’s sale

skysports-avram-glazer-manchester-united_4459341man uManchester United co-owner Avram Glazer is presently in Saudi Arabia amid rumours the Americans could be set to sell the club to Saudi Arabia’s royal family for a reported £4 billion ($5.1bn) .

Last month reports emerged that Crown Prince Mohammad – second in command to King Salman – wanted to make his mark in the world of football and viewed Glazer-owned United as the perfect acquisition. United sources insisted the club is not for sale with the Saudi royal family keen to do business with the Glazer family to rival Abu Dhabi’s ownership of Manchester City.
Glazer’s recent whereabouts have also fuelled rumours of an imminent sale though, with him spending a large chunk of his time in the Middle East.

He has now been spotted on social media once again in the Gulf state, this time at a meeting with a gentleman identified as Moh. Abosak in Riyadh, the country’s capital. Glazer is in the country to attend and speak at the MISK global forum, a two-day event that ‘brings young leaders, creators and thinkers together with established global innovators’. The Red Devils already have a connection with the oil-rich Gulf state after announcing a strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia’s General Sports Authority last year.

Manchester United co-owner Avram Glazer has been pictured on a trip to Saudi Arabia

However, it’s understood the American owners have no wish to sell a club they bought in 2005 for £790m, even though United are now valued at between £3bn and £4bn. The Glazers sold two per cent of the club’s shares with limited voting rights in August last year, and may be interested in selling more to the Saudis, but they are unlikely to sanction any deal that would dilute their ownership and control of United. The kingdom continues to face international scrutiny over the disappearance of a Saudi journalist.

The takeover rumours came after governments around the world piled pressure on the Saudis after Washington Post reporter Jamal Khashoggi, a critic of Prince Mohammad, was killed after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. If United’s current owners were to sell the club, it would cost the Saudis more than £3bn – but there is a chance that the crown prince could instead just buy a portion.skysports-avram-glazer-manchester-united_4459341

Saudi Arabia has already delved into the world of sport with purchases in both F1 and WWE – and football is already part of a wider political battle between the Gulf States. For example, the Saudis, who severed all ties with Qatar last year, banned Qatari channel beIN Sports. Then channel BeoutQ, allegedly based in Saudi Arabia, apparently started pirating beIN Sport’s coverage of the English top flight.

You’re a disgrace to democracy – APC chairman blast Senate President

Saraki-vs-OshiomholeThe National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has said the Senate President, Bukola Saraki is a disgrace to Nigeria’s democracy. He stated this in a statement signed and issued on Thursday to reporters in Abuja by his Chief Press Secretary, Simon Ebegbulem.

Oshiomhole spoke in reaction to a statement credited to Saraki that the APC chairman had allegations of bribe-taking as made by some governors from his party hanging on his neck.

He said it was pathetic and irresponsible that the Senate president would resort to ‘petty politics’.

He added that Saraki had no moral ground to call for the resignation of the national chairman. The APC chairman threatened to sue Saraki if he failed to provide evidence that he actually took bribes from aspirants.

The statement reads: “It is sad that Saraki, who just woke up from slumber occasioned by his crushing defeat at the Port Harcourt presidential primary election of his party, could degenerate to such a low level.

“It is equally sad, but not unexpected, that Saraki, who is politically drowning, would make such libelous comments against the national chairman of the APC. And I challenge Saraki to mention one name of an aspirant that gave money to the National Chairman or we file a legal action against him.

“Whereas, the basis on which he made those comments was tenuous and unjustifiable, it is on record that Saraki has been in the eye of investigations by the EFCC and the ICPC for sundry cases of corruption.“That is the same man that has taken it upon himself to question Comrade Oshiomhole’s credibility.

“We challenge him to mention one person who has claimed that he gave money to Oshiomhole to influence him and the decision of the party’s national working committee (NWC) in the just-concluded primary elections.‘We insist that Saraki with his kind of prebendal politics is nothing but a monumental disgrace to the nation’s democracy.”

‘I Will Not Die Until You Become President’ – Prof Ben Nwabueze Tells Atiku

Prof-Ben-Nwabueze-atikuChairman of The Patriots, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, SAN, on Wednesday said he believed former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, would lead the country to greatness.

The head of Igbo Leaders of Thought said this on Wednesday in Enugu when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate met with Igbo leaders.

Segun Sowunmi, spokesman of Atiku Presidential Campaign said Nwabueze got emotional during the meeting.
Sowunmi, who posted a photo showing Atiku and the Igbo leader in a warm embrace tweeted Wednesday night: “Touching moment Prof Ben Nwabueze almost moved to tears.”

“I will not die until your become president”, he quoted Nwabueze as saying.
The endorsement of Atiku was taken by Southeast elders, comprising political, traditional and religious leaders as well as women groups.

The communiqué read by a legal luminary, Olisa Agbakoba, SAN said: “The summit deliberated on the State of Ndigbo in Nigeria today especially after years of exclusion from the center.
“This country has never been as divided as it is today. We Igbos have always yearned for a level playing field with justice, equity and fairness.

“The Summit recognized the nomination of His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi Former Governor of Anambra State as the Vice Presidential Candidate of the PDP and fully endorses this nomination.

“It was acknowledged that this nomination puts Ndigbo back in the center of governance. It is therefore important that Ndigbo should rally behind the Atiku/Obi ticket.”

FG to employ 1m people for N-Power- Yemi Osinbajo

The Federal Government will expand the N-Power scheme from the current 500,000 to accommodate one million beneficiaries in the next phase.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, said that the expansion became necessary because of the successes recorded in the programme.

The government established the programme because of the growing need for government’s direct intervention in job creation.

The Vice President stated when he responded to a variety of questions at a town hall meeting in Abuja on Monday.

He said that the programme would become the largest post-tertiary job scheme in Africa.

“The idea of N-Power is supposed to be government’s own programme of direct employment and training. At the moment, we have taken up to 500,000 and in the next phase we are looking at another 200,000 and closely followed by another 300,000.

“In all, we will be employing up to a million, and that will be the largest post-tertiary job programme in the entire Africa. The reason why we have done this is because of the employment problems that we have, we may not be able to engage everybody but at least government must give some direct provision of jobs.”

Osinbajo explained further that though government could not pay more than the N30,000 currently paid to beneficiaries and also fix all the unemployment issues, it is working on creating the enabling environment to ensure that beneficiaries as well as other unemployed Nigerians become useful to themselves.

“It is infrastructure that will create the opportunities to provide more jobs, especially through manufacturing and Industry.

“So, we are doing roads and rail, providing power; that is the way we can develop industry. We are energizing our markets at the moment, putting solar power in the markets.

“We have designated 300 markets, we have done Ariaria in the South East, Sabon Gari in Kano, Surat in Lagos, Isikan in Ondo, Gbagi in Oyo and we are expanding so that more people can work.”

On the need to engage more women in productive activities, Prof. Osinbajo said: “one of the ways the Buhari administration is engaging more women is through our GEEP loans.”

He said: “56% of our GEEP loans go to the women. So there is a lot of preferential advantage that we give to women and this is because women are effective managers of resources; they pay back these loans when they are given.”

Saraki Cancels Plenary As Senators Fail To Show Up In Chamber

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has cancelled Tuesday’ plenary as a large number of the senators failed to turn up for proceedings.

Saraki led the Principal Officers into the chambers; took the official prayers; and began the day’s proceedings at 10:47 am.

However, Senator Babakaka Garbai moved for the approval of votes and proceedings of Thursday, 8th November 2018.

Senator Emmanuel Paulker seconded.

Senator Philip Aduda cited Order 10 and moved that since a majority of Senators are on oversight duty, plenary be adjourned. DSP, Ike Ekweremadu rose to second.

“This is in line with order 10.3; if we do not have quorum, we need to adjourn. That being said, all senators currently on oversight function should try to complete all duties before the end of the week.”- Saraki stated.

Senate Leader moved that all other items on the order paper be stood down to another legislative day which the Minority Leader seconded.

According to Saraki, less than 20 out of 109 Senators are participating in the legislative proceedings and the number is not enough to form a quorum.

He also added that some of the lawmakers are on oversight functions.

Regardless of the excuses given by Saraki for his colleagues, there are insinuations that the absence of most of the lawmakers may not be unconnected with preparations for the 2019 general elections.

It is an open secret that most of the Senators are fighting for re-election into the Senate.

This is the second time in less than one month where the Senate is adjourning Plenary for lawmakers to perform their oversight function on MDA’s.

The Upper Chamber has therefore adjourned plenary till November 20, 2018.

30,000 APC Members From Atiku’s Senatorial District Join PDP.

It has been reported that Reverend Habila Istifanus, a popular politician from the southern senatorial district of Adamawa State, has led 30,000 supporters from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Adamawa South Senatorial District is the home of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the PDP.

According to SaharaReporters, while speaking to newsmen in Yola on Monday, Istifanus, who lost the APC National Assembly ticket to Abdulrazak Namdas (Toungo/Ganye/Jada and Mayo-Belwa Federal Constituency), condemned APC’s nomination process, describing it as a charade.

“I spent over N25 million on the nomination process but surprisingly, the party hierarchy hijacked the process only to award the ticket to their preferred candidate,” he said.

“Now we have decided to leave that party of impunity; and with a support base of over 30,000 people, we’ll work for all PDP candidates at state and national levels.”

Ahmed Umar Fintiri, PDP Governorship candidate who received Istifanus on behalf of the decampees, urged the electorate to vote out the APC government.

“I’m a certificated candidate,” he said, alluding to Governor Jibrilla Bindow’s raging certificate controversy.

PDP Plan To Win 2019 Election By Using The Donald Trump Method- Group Warn Nigerians

Nigerians have been warned to be careful about what they chose to believe as it regards the PDP campaign for the 2019 general elections stressing that many the things the party says could be misleading.

A coalition of civil society organisations under the aegis of Save Nigeria Network (SNN) has alerted Nigerians to the desperate plot by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to win the 2019 general elections.

The Secretary General of the group, Patience Daniel, while speaking at a press conference Friday said the plans had been hatched to manufacture falsehood and distort facts in its campaign for 2019 elections using some key government agencies and parastatals.

The group alleged that main opposition party had perfected plans to achieve the aim through campaign of calumny.

He said:

“We want to alert Nigerians to a plot that has been hatched by the PDP to concoct lies, manufacture falsehood and distort facts in its campaign for the 2019 presidential and other elections using some key government agencies and parastatals.

“We are raising this alarm because we believe that it is wrong for the electorate to be misled into deciding what candidate to vote for based on falsehood since this has the potential to distort the outcomes of the elections in ways that jeopardise Nigeria’s democracy.

Politicians will do anything and say anything to win people’s votes, the campaign of calumny is not peculiar to the PDP alone, it is now left for Nigerians to determine what is real and what is not.

Shehu Sani Reacts To El-Rufai’s Choice Of Muslim As Running Mate

The Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has said people of all faiths must be treated with equal respect and dignity.

This came in reaction to Governor Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai’s choice of a Muslim as his running mate for 2019.
The Governor had announced former Secretary of Kaduna Primary Health Care Development Agency, PHCDA, Hajiya Dr Hadiza Balarabe as his new running mate for the 2019 election.

Balarabe would be replacing his present Deputy Governor, Bala Bantex, who is running for Kaduna South Senatorial seat on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to the development in his Twitter page on Sunday, the Kaduna lawmaker said Kaduna state is a multi-religious and multi-ethnic state and that as such, none should be treated with contempt by any government or non-state actors.

Senator Sani, who recently moved to the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, and got the ticket to contest for the Kaduna Central senatorial seat after dumping the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), wrote, “Kaduna state is a multi-religious and multi-ethnic state. We are a society of diversity.

People of all faiths must be treated with equal respect and dignity.
“None should be treated with contempt or disrespect by any Government or non state actors.

This is justice, this is peace.”

Sen. Shehu Sani reacts to US Institute’s prediction

USIP had stated this in a report it published on the forthcoming general election in Nigeria. The report had also report claimed that having peaceful election in Nigeria will depend on the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

USIP said that although Buhari and the APC had not met the expectations of many Nigerians, it will not cost them their victory. But reacting, Sani wondered why the institute will abandon its job of working for peace in trouble areas in Nigeria to now predicting winner of election.

The lawmaker tweeted “US peace institute should help in working for peace in our troubled spots or ‘predicting peace’ in our crisis ridden towns and villages, instead of playing the soothsayer by predicting election results.”

He advised the institute to focus on its job instead of playing the soothsayer.

What PDP Said After WAEC Issued Buhari School Certificate

The opposition party has broken its silence following the issuance of a school certificate by the West African Examination Council to President Buhari.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Friday chided President Muhammadu Buhari shortly after he was presented a certificate of attestation from the West African Examination Council, WAEC.

This is coming following weeks of ceaseless salvos fired in the direction of the Commander-in-Chief by the opposition over the controversy surrounding his school certificate.

An elated Adesina on Friday via his verified Twitter Handle @FemAdesina wrote: “WAEC presents attestation certificate and confirmation of results to President Buhari. What will the naysayers do next?”

A photograph of a smiling President Buhari, alongside Adamu Adamu, Education Minister, Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF and an unidentified aide accompanied the tweet.

Reacting on behalf of the PDP, National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan described the development as a tragicomedy, saying the party never expected “Mr. President to dramatically come this low because you cannot have a certificate and be calling it an attestation.”

In a chat with newsmen shortly after Adesina’s tweet went viral, the publicity scribe said:
“What are they attesting to? We stand by our position that Mr. President has no school certificate. It’s simply a political certificate. We have said that President Buhari and his handlers are always fretting at the mention of a certificate.

They want to mislead Nigerians to say that Mr. President has a school certificate.

“If Mr. President has a certificate, why did he not use it in 2015 election? Why is the certificate suddenly emerging few months to the election?

“Have you checked the photograph that was attached to the certificate? In 1961, was it the requirement of WAEC to have a passport attached to school certificate? Even in our own time, was there a condition in WAEC that you must submit your passport to be attached to your certificate?
“You remember the procured Martin Luther Award presented to our President which later was discovered to be fake? This is a similar award,” he said.

”We’re doing our best to ensure Leah Sharibu is released” Lai Mohammed

The Federal government says it is doing everything within its power to ensure the safe return of Leah Sharibu, the Dapchi school girl still in Boko Haram captivity.

Leah and her classmates at the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, were abducted by the sect members in March 2018.

105 of them were released. Four died in captivity while the sect members refused to release Leah because she refused to denounce her Christian faith.

Speaking at the 100 years celebration of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Oro, his home town near Ilorin in Kwara State yesterday, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said

“Nigerians should appreciate that any of our citizens, either boy or girl, Moslem or Christian is dear to us.

We do not look at Leah Sharibu either as Christian or Moslem, but as a precious daughter of the country.

We are doing our best to ensure her safe release and be reunited with her family,” he said.

2019: PDP Reportedly Hires Donald Trump’s Lobbyist For $90k Per Month

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hired Brian Ballard, a top US lobbyist, ahead of the 2019 elections.
The influential lobbyist has President Donald Trump as one of his clients. Politico Magazine, a top publication in the US, says Ballard is closer to the US president than perhaps any other lobbyist in town.

“He’s parlayed that relationship into a booming business helping clients get their way with the Trump administration — and his clients and even some of his rivals say his firm has a better grasp of what’s going on in the West Wing than almost anyone else,” the magazine said in a report.
“Ballard was one of the top fundraisers in the country for Trump’s campaign and continues to raise millions for his reelection campaign.

Wiles, one of his top lieutenants, ran Trump’s campaign in Florida and delivered the nation’s biggest swing state to the president.”
Documents seen by TheCable showed that Nigeria’s main opposition party has agreed to pay $90,000 (N31.5m) to Ballard on a monthly basis throughout the duration of the contract.

TheCable understands that the contract which was signed on September 21, 2018 is for a year, meaning Ballard would rake in close to N400 million from the deal.
The contract is entered into between the Peoples Democratic Party of Nigeria (“the Client”), Plot l970 Michael Okpara Street, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, and Ballard Partners, Inc. (“the F irm”), 601 13th Street NW, Suite 450N, Washington, D. C. 20005,” the agreement read.

“This agreement shall automatically renew for successive one-year periods on the anniversary of the effective date of the agreement unless either party terminates the agreement. Upon renewal this agreement may be terminated within thirty (30) days written notice by either party.

“Duties of the firm. It shall be the Firm’s duty to consult with the Client and advocate on its behalf those issues the client deems necessary and appropriate before the US Federal government. Issues and objectives may include, but not be limited to, enhancement of US Nigerian relations; strengthening and advancing democratic values and the rule of law in Nigeria, with a special focus in the coming months on maintaining political and security conditions free of intimidation and interference in order to ensure the success and fairness of Nigeria’s national election for president in 2019.

It shall further be the Firm’s duty to inform the Client of developments in legislation and policy relevant to the Client’s issues and objectives.
“It shall be the Client’s duty to provide the Firm the information necessary to best represent the Client. It shall also be the Client’s duty to timely compensate the Firm for its services.

“Compensation. The Firm shall receive from the Client $90,000 a month, payable in quarterly installments for this agreement, plus the reasonable costs associated with the representation, including but not limited to, necessary registration fees; and travel expenses.”

Osita Chidoka, a former minister of aviation, signed the contract on behalf of the PDP.
This report comes two weeks after Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the party, led PDP stalwarts to Dubai for a strategy meeting.
